Jaguar Set to Target Tesla Owners by Its New Luxury EV I-Pace
In a bid to kick begin sales of its I-Pace luxury electric vehicle (EV), Jaguar has set its sights at an unlikely goal: current Tesla owners. The automaker confirmed to Engadget that it is providing a choose group of Tesla owners $3,000 off the value of its I-Pace EV. The offer is also obtainable to anybody who lives in a Tesla-owning household. These consumers can mix the company’s “Tesla Conquest” incentive with a $5,000 supplier discount and $7,000 allowance credit to get $15,000 off the I-Tempo. With all three reductions, the base model prices $54,500, instead of $69,500.
To top all of it off, you don’t have to commerce in your Tesla to take advantage of the promotion. As an alternative, all Jaguar is asking for is proof of ownership and or registration. The offer is accessible until September 30th, 2019. Moreover, you can’t mix the zero % financing option Jaguar has offered since the start of the year with the current Tesla credit.
It’s no surprise to see Jaguar provide a special low cost on the I-Pace, although whether or not it is smart for the corporate to target Tesla owners is a different question altogether. Despite excellent reviews, including one from Engadget’s own Roberto Baldwin, the corporate has struggled to sell its first EV. According to InsideEVs, this previous July, the automaker bought roughly 217 I-Pace autos within the US. In different words, it is hard to sell a $70,000 EV in a world where a $36,600 Model 3 exists. And but Jaguar exhibits no indicators of giving up. In July, the automaker confirmed that its I-Pace staff is building an electric version of its flagship XJ sedan.
